Support for two SIM cards is becoming a popular solution among the manufacturers of flagship smartphones. However, the second SIM card is often limited to support for 2G and 3G networks. Fortunately, there have been chipsets on the market that allow you to support LTE and VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling through both SIM cards. Samsung has already prepared a software update for the Galaxy S9 and S9 + models, which activates these functionalities.

Many people do not appreciate the advantages of VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling. Unfortunately, these technologies are not yet fully implemented by all operators. Some of them are limited only to Apple devices, but more and more networks also support Android smartphones. Unfortunately, the list of supported devices is often short.

Dual Wi-Fi Calling support will be useful for people who have a range problem

VoWiFI technology (i.e. Wi-Fi Calling) allows you to make voice calls via Wi-Fi and also works when your smartphone is out of cellular coverage. However, for this service to work for both SIM cards, it requires special software and an appropriate chipset. The second problem has long been solved by Qualcomm and other manufacturers of integrated circuits that are found in our smartphones. However, the software issue is solved gradually by means of appropriate updates.

Dual VoLTE can also come in handy with low coverage. Although operators still have fewer LTE base stations than 2G / 3G. However, the newer technology has a better range (especially in the 800 MHz band) and a much better quality of calls. Therefore, in the long-term, investments in VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling are very profitable for operators. Customers, on the other hand, will benefit from better quality of services. We can only count on the fact that the new solutions will be quickly introduced in all networks and each of us will be able to use the full capabilities of owned smartphones.
