Samsung has been trying to sort out the names of its products for some time. A few days ago, there were rumours about the presentation of the new version of the Galaxy A5. However, today it turned out that the new mid-range smartphone is called Galaxy A8, and its larger equivalent is Galaxy A8 +. The average user will immediately associate this name with the Galaxy S8, which is the most correct and 100% intended by the manufacturer.

We have already got used to the fact that the flagship series Galaxy S and Galaxy Note released in the same year have the same number and similar specifications. Now everything indicates that it will be similar in the Galaxy A series, which includes mid-range models. This is probably a good move on the part of Samsung, because many people choose models much cheaper than flagships. However, each of us likes top models, although most people do not need their performance. That’s why the Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ are similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ models. The most characteristic element is the frameless design with an infinity screen that has a hidden home button. For this reason, the fingerprint reader has been moved to the back of the housing. However, its location has changed. Fingerprint reader in Galaxy A8/A8+ is located under the camera lens, not next to how it was in the Galaxy S8/S8+. A similar solution will appear in next year’s Galaxy S9.

Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ have a front camera with two lenses.

This is quite a bold step on the part of Samsung. It suggests that for the average user the front camera is more important than the main one. Besides, on social networks, it can be seen that smartphones are mainly used for taking a selfie. That’s why the new Samsung models have two lenses on the front, one with 16 MP and the other 8 MP. Added to this is the support for the Live Focus portrait mode, which allows you to achieve a blurred background effect. The main camera has a resolution of 16 MP. Both models are equipped with an Exynos chipset with an octa-core processor clocked up to 2.2 GHz. This is most likely Exynos 7885, but Samsung has not yet confirmed this information. Galaxy A8 has 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of built-in memory, which can be expanded with a microSD card. Galaxy A8+ will be equipped with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of data space. As for the screen, the smaller model has an AMOLED display with a diagonal of 5.6” and a larger version has 6”. In both cases, the display resolution is 1080 x 2220 pixels. Another difference is the capacity of the battery, which is 3 000 mAh and 3 500 mAh, respectively. Of course, the larger model, i.e. Galaxy A8+, has bigger battery. Both smartphones will appear in stores at the beginning of next year and will cost respectively 500 EUR and 600 EUR.

The most important at the end. Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ have LTE category 11 modem (600 Mbps) and support 802.11ac Wi-Fi network. Both models also support the VR Gear headset.
