This year belongs to bezel-less smartphones with an indented screen. We have met this treatment with the launch of the iPhone X. Now the first smartphone of Nokia, and more specifically HMD Global, from the X series will join this group. This is of course Nokia X6, which was officially presented to the world today.
Nokia X6 is not a top-flight smartphone, but it fits in perfectly with today’s trends. We are dealing here with a medium shelf device, which is inexpensive and has a 5.8” screen, slender frames, a glass case and a double camera. However, inside is Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 (octa-core Kryo 260 1.8 GHz), which is slower than flagship chipsets, but should be sufficiently efficient in carrying out everyday tasks. The specification for wireless technologies is also somewhat poor.
Nokia X6 has a category 4 LTE modem, i.e. it does not support LTE-Advanced
Unfortunately, HMD Global has decided to save on solutions related to wireless data transmission. The SoC used has a Snapdragon X12 modem, which is category 12, i.e. it can aggregate 3 frequency bands and supports modulation of 256 QAM. So it is ideal for LTE-Advanced networks operating in European countrie. Unfortunately, Nokia X6 has been deprived of these functionalities. HMD Global has reduced the capabilities of the LTE modem to category 4, which does not support bandwidth aggregation. It is a pity that the Nokia X6 for mobile Internet is just as fast as the Nokia 3310 LTE, or old Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.
Fortunately, these restrictions do not apply to other wireless technologies. Nokia X6 supports Bluetooth 5 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac (version without MIMO) with a maximum speed of 384 Mbps. The advantages of the new Nokia can certainly include a battery with a capacity of 3 060 mAh, which can be charged using the quick charging method Quick Charge 3.0. According to the manufacturer, it allows you to charge half of the battery in just 30 minutes. The display, which was mentioned earlier, displays the image with an aspect ratio of 19: 9 in FHD + resolution (1080 x 2280 pixels). Mobile photography fans should be satisfied with a shutter of 16 Mpix and f/2.0, which is supported by a monochromic sensor of 5 Mpix and f/2.2. Good image quality is to be provided by artificial intelligence algorithms that specialize in image processing.
Nokia X6 will be available in China in three variants. The weakest of them has 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. It was valued at 1 299 yuan (740 PLN net). However, the most powerful model (6GB / 64GB) already costs 1,699 yuan (PLN 965 net). The indirect variant (4GB / 64GB) is an expenditure of 1 449 yuan (825 PLN net). Of course, the Nokia X6 just like other HMD Global smartphones has a hybrid SIM slot, which can be used for the second operator card or expand the smartphone’s swings using a microSD card.
