BlackBerry is very popular brand in the U.S.A. However, they newest model with Android operating system, i.e. BlackBerry Priv, did not achieve success, because this smartphone is too expensive. Of course, it costs similar to other flagship smartphones from Samsung and Apple. However, people prefer to buy the mobile from known manufacturer. Therefore BlackBerry has decided to prepare cheaper Android based smartphones.

In my opinion this is very good decision. The BlackBerry OS is dead, no one will develop any application on this operating system. Therefore BlackBerry had to choice between Windows Mobile and Android, the choice was obvious. Their BlackBerry Priv flagship mobile gathered a lot of positive reviews, this is very good smartphone. This is also the only one Android mobile with physical keyboard. However, people got used to touchable keyboards ans Swype mechanism. On the other hand, I know a lot of people who do not like touchable screens and they would like to have the modern Android phone with physical keyboard for a reasonable price.

The first new smartphone is BlackBerry Neon

This model will not have the physical keyboard, but this will be mid-ranged model. Here you have the specification of BlackBerry Neon:

  • Screen: 5.2” FullHD
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (8x ARM Cortex A53 1.5 GHz and Adreno 405 GPU),
  • RAM: 3 GB,
  • Internal storage: 16 GB,
  • Camera: main 13 MP and front 8 MP,
  • Battery: 2 610 mAh.

As you can see, this mobile should be quite cheap. I think that the main task of BlackBerry Neon is to popularize the brand on Android market. I hope that this mid-range mobile will be successful, because it would be nice to have new big player on smartphone market.

The next mobile is called BlackBerry Argo.

This ill be probably a successor of the current flagship model, i.e. BlackBerry Priv. The specification is very similar to Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5, Xiaomi Mi5 and other newest flagship smartphones:

  • Screen: 5.5” QHD,
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (8x 64-bit Qualcomm Kryo 2.2 GHz and Adreno 530 GPU),
  • RAM: 4 GB,
  • Internal storage: 32 GB,
  • Camera: main 21 MP and front 8 MP,
  • Battery: 3 000 mAh with Quick Charge 3.0 suport,
  • Fingerprint reader.

I think that BlackBerry Argo may have the same problem as BlackBerry Priv, i.e. high price. However, the target group are wealthy businessmen.

In my opinion, the most interesting is the third model, i.e. BlackBerry Mercury.

This is very interesting proposal for people who would like to have a smartphone with physical keyboard. Unfortunately, it will be available at the beginning of of next year. However, in my opinion, BlackBerry Mercury is worth of waiting, because its specification suggests the reasonable price:

  • Screen: 4.5” HD,
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (8x ARM Cortex A53 2.0 GHz and Adreno 506 GPU),
  • RAM: 3 GB,
  • Internal storage: 30 GB,
  • Camera: main 18 MP, front 8 MP,
  • Battery: 3 400 mAh.
